Advanced users • Updating Pi Zero bookworm generates initrd.img for 6.6.28 and 6.6.31

I have Pi Zero boards (with and without W), with bookworm lite (32-bit, obviously) on them.

Today, when I ran the usual apt update / apt upgrade, I noticed that towards the end of the upgrade process, that update-initramfs was generating images for both the 6.6.28 and 6.6.31 kernels.

If I run uname -a, I see that they are running 6.6.31

Pretty sure I have seen something like this before on other machines, and I was prompted to run apt autoremove got rid of some older packages.

This isn't the case for the Pi Zero boards in question, as apt autoremove tells me there is nothing to do.

Since the generation takes some time on a Zero, I would like it not to generate the 6.6.28 one, since I don't think it's being used anyway.

How can I do this? Is there a meta-package somewhere for the older kernel images?

Failing that, is it safe to apt purge the individual

Code:

linux-image-6.6.28+rpt-rpi-v6linux-image-6.6.28+rpt-rpi-v7linux-image-6.6.28+rpt-rpi-v7llinux-image-6.6.28+rpt-rpi-v8
packages?
(Ideally, I don't want to have to reimage, so am a little twitchy about just getting rid of them and seeing what happens!)
