Hello all,

I'm looking to use the MIPI output of a Pi5 to run an aftermarket display. I've read the Pi5 manuals blurb. Here's the excerpt 'you will need to add a dtoverlay setting into the /boot/firmware/config.txt file to correctly configure the right port for the camera or display.

These dtoverlay settings should be provided by the manufacturer of your device. For example, adding dtoverlay=ov9281 would configure an Omnivision OV9281-based camera on CSI/DSI1, while adding dtoverlay=ov9281,cam0 would add the same camera to CSI/DSI0.'

The display manufacturers is saying this 'If you have Raspberry pi root files, you don't need our HDMI driver board. But if you don't have Raspberry pi root files, you need our HDMI driver board for pi.'

So my question is who exactly is correct and how do I add this display on the MIPI outputs so I don't have to use the displays MIPI to HDMI display board?
