Was happily using VLC on my Sony (Android) TV to access media (movie) files in Transmission on my Raspberry Pi 4.
Then I "upgraded" my old Sony to a new Samsung, only to find that its Tizen operating system won't run VLC. So I'm looking for a simple solution to reconnect to my media files. Have read up on various possibilities, such as PLEX and Jellyfin, but they appear unnecessarily complex and come with a host of pay streaming channels which I don't want. Is there a simpler option that works like VLC, and do I need to install it on the Pi or Samsung TV, or both?
