Machine: Windows 11
Image OS: RaspberryPi OS (64-bit)
Hello. I'm trying to setup a headless RPi 4B. So far:
- I haven't been able connect to it using `ssh pi@raspberrypi.local` or `ssh pi@raspberrypi` on Powershell in both password-only and public-key customizations. It always returns the error "ssh: Could not resolve hostname raspberrypi: No such host is known."
- I found a D8:3A:DD in my IP scanner; tried `ssh pi@[IP here]` but the connection always times out.
Here's my idea of what I did step-by-step:
- Got SSH public-key using ssh-keygen. Copied that
- Accomplished everything in the imager. Pasted my public-key
- Flashed the OS to my slotted SD card. Safely ejected
- Slotted SD to Pi and connected to supply and waited 5 minutes
- Tried `ssh pi@raspberrypi.local`, `ssh pi@raspberrypi`. and finding the Pi via IP Scanner
I've also tried:
- adding an \ssh directory to the SD card
- using Ethernet to router to find the IP address
- disabling my custom DNS
- password (not the public-key one) setup during OS customization
What should I do? I don't want to keep plugging and unplugging my Pi just to take out and configure the SD card on my computer. I heard this breaks the Pi. Please help me.
There are so many other variables I might have left out - there are too many and I don't know how to organize them in a post, so I would be happy to answer any of your questions about those.
