Troubleshooting • LineageOS not booting BUT PiOS is

Hello everybody,

after reading for one week on several pages found with google, I try finding my luck here.

I have a Pi 3B and 3B+. On both is the newest PiOS working without difficulties.
As soon as I try to install the newest LineageOS to the Pis, I face different problems.

What I tried:
- read the Sticky theard
- have a proper power supply
- used different SD cards (same brand (SanDisk) but different models)
- different partition tools
- different card readers
- different flashing tools (Etcher and original Raspberry Pi Imager)

Pi 3B:
- PiOS: works
- LineageOS 14: works
- LineageOS 15-17: the Pi starts but reboots permanently

Pi 3B+:
- PiOS: works
- LineageOS 14-17: the Pi doesn not start at all and the ACT LED blinks 4 times short and 7 times long what means that Kernel file and boot file is not found.

So either my screen (it is an Android TV beamer) screws things up or something is wrong with my partitions.
Is there a tool which can check the lineageOS flash?
Do you have any idea what the problem might be?
