Automation, sensing and robotics • How to control Shelley Plug S from RPi4 via Bluetooth?

A few years back, @Bosse_B posted a thread about using a Sheely Plug via WiFi. That thread is locked and I had some questions, so I figured I'd start a new topic.

The basic problem to solve is I'm looking for a way to turn the overhead light on/off in an outdoor garage that needs to be kept above freezing. The plan is to not rewire everything and leave the existing light bulb socket in place - just a 60w bulb is enough to maintain the temp - and use the existing light switch box/wiring to turn the light on and off. I was originally looking at the Leviton light switch as a direct replacement for the standard single toggle switch but I was unable to get any help in how to control the Leviton light switch from the Raspberry Pi with simple command sequences. Everyone just says to use the app or Alexa/Google or a full home automation system. I just need one light in one outside building.

As an alternative, I thought I'd look at the Shelly. I'm not sure which one - as I said I'm only controlling a single light switch - and I don't know if any of them will fit inside the existing wall box. But if anyone has any suggestions on if it will work, where to get more information/examples and which one would work, I'd really appreciate it. I'm obviously trying to get this done now - since we're in the midst of winter - to be able to have the Pi turn the light on and off depending on the temperature when we aren't home rather than leaving it on all the time JIC.

Thanks!!!
