Compute Module • Restricted permissions for CM4 Provisioner

Hi All,
We are gearing up to put CM4 modules into production. I have made a 8 way provisioner that works fine. I have made a stand alone resetter to erase CM4 modules. All good.
I'm in R&D and take responsibility for my button mashing. The system is going into a production environment. I don't want them to be able to button mash and have the ability to change or erase images. I do want them to be able to see when the module is programmed.
I can see 2 solutions. Restrict permissions to the web application or use a stand alone display running a simple GUI with 8 boxes that change to green when successfully programmed and can show some information as well.
I have had no luck looking for a way to restrict web permissions. I have had a play with the API token but gotten nowhere (I have no experience here). I tried using Python Requests sample code but couldn't log in. I'm willing to pursue the API option but I am unsure if it will fulfil my needs.
Does anyone have any experience in something similar? I'm curious what a production scenario might look like.
tl;dr I would like either a stand alone status display or restricted permissions for the R Pi provisioner, hints on either would be appreciated.
Thank you
