General discussion • Hearing typing on speakers - not me!

I just set up RPI 5 a few days back. I have it up, not really doing anything at the moment, but have speakers turn on from previously playing music (USB to 3mm dongle).

I have 'ssh' enabled, and I have to type a password to ssh in. It is on a lan with my other computers. I have it configured so i have to authenticate to log in.

I started hearing keyboard typing sounds coming out of my speakers a few minutes ago! I could tell that there was some backspacing and space bar strokes, along with other keystrokes! To confirm it was my RPI and not another system nearby, I muted the speaker muted the speakers and it went away. I then adjusted the volume - the typing sounds tracked with my speaker settings.

I shut down the RPI, then logged back in. No more typing sounds.

I looked at 'last' for logins, and only saw my last login.

I looked for 'auth.log', but apparently RPI doesn't log to this.

I think someone was able to get into my system, but so far, haven't been able to verify.

There is no one else on my lan, other than me, unless they somehow broke in.

Any suggestions so that I can identify the source of the typing sounds, and verify logins?
