Hi everyone,
I’m currently using a Raspberry Pi 4 and I’ve set myself a challenge: I want to edit a video on this little device. I know it’s not really built for video editing, but I’m determined to make it work. I’m looking for recommendations on the best video editor that can handle basic tasks like multiple layers, adding text overlays, rotating, stretching, and adjusting transparency. If it supports alpha masks, that would be a big plus!
So far, I’ve tried the following:
Pitivi: It’s extremely slow and I don’t think I’ve ever seen the CPU usage hit 100%.
Kdenlive: This is the editor I’m most familiar with and it works smoothly while editing. However, playback during editing is painfully slow, even with proxies enabled.
Shotcut: It has smoother video playback during editing, but the program itself runs slower compared to Kdenlive.
If anyone has tips on how to make these editors run more smoothly (I’ve already tried using proxies), or if you know of another editor that might work better on the Raspberry Pi, I’d really appreciate it!
Also, while I’m here, does anyone have any recommendations for native games that run well on the Raspberry Pi? I’d prefer open-source titles if possible.
Thanks in advance for any help!
