Troubleshooting • Rpi 3B+ ESD Protection & EMI fingers

I've been using the Rpi 3b & 3b+ for industrial products with excellent results.

I have a client using 100 devices (LAN, excellent power supply) and all devices, without exception, at 3 am will run to a kernel panic.

At 3 am the raspios (headless) performs a SD card check and that triggers the kernel panic. Hardware watchdog triggers a restart, and everything is back to "normal".

I've been trying to figure out why would that happen. I came accross ESD protection and EMI fingers on the LAN lines, that the Rpi 3b/3b+ does not have. They are present in the Rpi5.

My question is:

Could ESD/EMI have undesired effects on the stability of the SD card?

Could a floating voltage difference, from network switch have undesired effects on Rpi?

If thats so, could you recomend some device to attach to the Ethernet port to filter the signal?

I've tried using cheap networkfilters and the effect is still there.

I've switched some devices to Wifi and the problems are gone.

Thanks!
