I would like to request that bcache be included by default within the Raspberry OS.
This would help me, and I suspect many others, quite a bit who would like to use their pi 5 as a NAS.
Jeff Geerling has a post here: https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2021/ ... spberry-pi
explaining how to build (/cross compile) your own version of the Raspberry OS but frankly that is a little beyond me and I suspect many others too.
While bcache is supported in Ubuntu 24.04 Lite, the Raspberry OS supports 2.5 GB USB NICs out of the box and Ubuntu does not. I, and I suspect many others, would truly benefit from an OS that supports both.
Reading Jeff's post it would to appear fairly straight forward change for someone that knows what they are doing for inclusion within the Raspberry Pi OS.
I would truly appreciate your consideration of this request.
Thank you for your time.
