Troubleshooting • RPi5 "freezing" then can't power back on

I've been using my Raspberry Pi 5 for about a week now and I'm currently facing two distinct issues with my setup. I'm hoping to get some insights or solutions from this community.

Setup:
My RPi5 is running with a Geekworm X1011. The OS (RPi OS Lite) is booting from a 256GB SSD on nvme0, and nvme1 is a 4TB NVME drive that I'm using for NAS with OMV. I'm using the official RPi5 PSU for power. The write cache is not enabled on the SSDs. The device doesn't appear to be overheating (neither the NVME nor the CPU), and it can work all day under load without any issues or logged errors. I don't currently have active cooling on the device, but it's on order.

Issue 1: Freezing / Unresponsiveness
The RPi5 becomes unresponsive - SSH and web page access are unavailable, but I can still ping the device. If I'm logged in via SSH, I get an IO error when trying to run any command. There are no related entries in the journal logs.

Issue 2: Power-On Delay
When I attempt to reboot the device (by unplugging it, waiting 30 seconds, and plugging it back in), it doesn't power on immediately. I need to wait about 5 minutes before I can plug it back in and have it work fine.

After this happened a few times, I recently switched back to the microSD for booting, and I will see if it can log anything when the issue occurs, given that I'm assuming there's some sort of nvme / HAT issue and it can't then access the OS to log.

Regardless, I'm curious if anyone else has experienced similar issues or if there are known solutions. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
